Angelo Agostini, architect and designer, lives in Italy. Agostini designed several tensegrities made of recycled materials such as paperboard, since he studies tensegrity as a form of resource-saving in construction. Some of his tensegrities consist of wires and flat elements instead of struts.

Agostini also designed a [Tetrahedron|4-struts tetrahedron]] and an [Cube|8-struts cube]] shown in this wiki

La tensegrity è una delle linee di ricerca che "[http://hardstudio.altervista.org|h(a)rD]]" ha scelto per dare forma alla propria visione

Si tratta di un principio strutturale particolare che garantisce il migliore sfruttamento possibile delle caratteristiche tecniche di resistenza dei materiali, cioè ottimizza al massimo l'allocazione delle risorse disponibili

Rende così possibile dare forma al principio immateriale che guida le scelte di h(a)rD e di tanta parte della ricerca architettonica moderna: "less is more."

Rende anche visibile il nostro approccio low-tech e low-cost al tema della sostenibilità. quanto c'è di tecnicamente all'avanguardia in essa sta tutto nella sua concezione, non nella sua realizzazione con strumenti o tecnologie costruttive high-tech, o materiali rari e costosi, cioè con un approccio resource-intensive ed ad alta incidenza di capitale. La risposta alla sfida globale della sostenibilità sta nel trovare forme intelligenti di uso delle limitate risorse disponibili, entro i limiti dello sviluppo. questo significa anche rispondere alla sfida con strumenti alla portata di tutti, qui ed ora.

A differenza delle consuete strutture reticolari, il fatto che i membri tesi siano costituiti da cavi rende il loro comportamento statico monolaterale, non potendo essere che tesi e non potendo quindi sopportare configurazioni che producano tagli, momenti, torsioni o anche semplicemente inversione degli sforzi normali da trazione a compressione. Inoltre gli elementi rigidi non si toccano (floating compression) rendendo possibile la realizzazione di giunti privi d'attrito Le tensegrity sono quindi leggerissime, straordinariamente resistenti a parità di materiale, e facilmente smontabili e pieghevoli.
